The International Schools of Choueifat, “Archeological Dig”

Students from both International Schools of Choueifat in Egypt: Cairo and City of 6th of October were invited to join an Archeological Dig under the sponsorship of the Children’s Museum in Indianapolis, USA, which is one of the largest children’s museums in the world. This museum has been advising in the design of the new Suzanne Mubarak Children's Museum in Heliopolis which is now under construction.

Choueifat Cairo Peacekeepers

This year in KG 1 through Grade 3 all students took part in the peacekeeper activity. Peacekeepers is a program designed to help with character development and prevent violence in school. It is built on six principles and students took part in classrooms activities to learn about these.

Middle School Social Studies Projects: Term 3

Probably the activity that has given rise to the greatest show of talent and enthusiasm from the students has been the Social Studies project assignment, across the four year-groups. We worked individually or in groups to make some marvellous posters and 3-D models, on subjects related to the work studied in class. We then gave presentations to the class. Some of the subjects chosen were:

Primary School Musical

The Wizard of Oz Early June saw the presentation of the musical The Wizard of Oz performed by students in grades 2, 3 and 4 and directed by Mr. Jack Tomlinson and Ms Mary Saydein.

SABIS^® Educational System

Testing and Monitoring

Student assessment is an integral part of the SABIS^® Educational System. Ongoing assessment is used to evaluate student learning and permit timely, positive intervention. Assessment covers the five core academic subjects, namely English, mathematics, world language (language varies depending on the school's host country), science, and social studies. Testing students in this way has a number of very important advantages:

Students learn to perform well under the pressure of time and other constraints
Students develop the ability to focus and to sustain concentration for long periods
It provides feedback that allows close monitoring and follow-up

The proprietary SABIS^® Software System provides many programs that allow prompt, reliable assessment of student knowledge as well as effective follow-up. One such program, the SABIS Academic Monitoring System^® (SABIS AMS^®), is used to assess student knowledge of every concept taught. The SABIS AMS^® allows 'gaps' in student knowledge to be pinpointed as they form. Working as a team, teachers and students then focus their efforts on 'filling the gaps'.

The SABIS AMS^® allows the progress of every student to be continuously monitored, problem areas to be identified, and the most appropriate solution to be implemented.
